Meet Grace, Girl of the Year 2015 + Book Review

I finished painting Grace's collection in 3 days! That's not too bad. I skipped her pajamas because I would have needed to sand down an extra wooden doll, which takes awhile. When AG releases another outfit for Grace, I'll paint her pajamas too.

On January 1st, I went to the AG boutique in my city to see Grace's debut. It was crowded! I didn't take any pictures or buy anything; I really just wanted a new catalog. Having a catalog as a reference makes it easier to mix colors correctly. Unfortunately, the store did not have the new catalog yet. I still had fun seeing Grace! Although I will probably not buy Grace, I think her collection is super cute.

Grace Book Review (no spoilers)

I visited Paris last September (and again in November!) so I thought it would be fun to read Grace's book. Even though I'm quite a bit older than the target age group for these books, Grace was still enjoyable. I found Grace's experiences in the book oddly relatable, which is not something I expected. It's funny how somethings are still the same in adulthood! I especially liked reading about Grace visiting places I have seen in real life. My one criticism is that the ending of the book doesn't seem very realistic.

And here is Grace's collection! :)

Meet Outfit -This is very cute in real life too! While I was in Europe, one of my friends bought a pair of gray ankle books that look almost exactly the same as this pair.

Baking Outfit - The was my favorite outfit for Grace even before I saw it in the store. I love baby pink and blue together.
City Outfit - I liked it online, but not so much in real life. The shoes don't quite match the sweater and the sweater seemed a little too red-orange for my taste. That may have just been the store's lighting. This is very nit-picky and minor, but I don't think the sweater would be comfortable for June/July in Paris. It was still very warm in September.

Travel Coat - I didn't really like it until I saw it in person. It is very cute and I love the fabric AG used! I bought a trench coat for my own trip to Europe so I can relate.

Opening-Night Outfit - Wow, I did not expect to like this outfit so much in person. I thought it was going to be a generic My AG party dress, but it's unique. The tulle overlay on the sequins was very tastefully done.

Farewell to Isabelle, Girl of the Year 2014

Whew! This set took awhile to paint, but that's probably because Isabelle has so many outfits. I love her collection and I like that AG created another ballet dancer doll. Marisol (2005) was okay, in my opinion, but I absolutely love Isabelle's performance outfits.

Coming soon … Grace's 2015 Girl of the Year Collection :) I was in Paris earlier this year so I'm excited to learn more about her story.

3 Years Later … Caroline's Collection!

I can't believe it's been three years since I updated this blog. I thought I was done painting "cuties"; I have long since realized that selling them is not a viable option. Now that I am no longer collecting AG dolls, this is my way of having fun and keeping up with the new releases.

Without further ado, here is Caroline's collection! I painted this set before the release of her 2014 BeForever party dress. I hope to paint that outfit soon.

Meet the American Girls!

The first eighteen "cuties" are finished! Every historical American Girl character in her meet outfit is represented, including two Felicity dolls because she received a new meet outfit in 2005.
